PRICES FOR VEGETABLES FOR RUSSIANS WILL BE FIXED AT ACCEPTABLE VALUES

As everyone knows, vegetables are extremely important in human nutrition, especially at a time of high morbidity. The availability of vegetables and fruits directly depends on the health of the population. Therefore, it is very important that following the producers of sunflower oil and sugar, manufacturers of vegetable products expressed their readiness to fix prices at an acceptable level.

The President of the Association "Greenhouses of Russia" Alexei Sitnikov said that they are ready to fix holiday prices in the relevant agreements at the level of the same period in 2019.

"Average annual prices, for example, for cucumbers over the past five years not only did not rise, but also remained at the same level, and between November and March fell and became the main factor in containing inflation. The main market system factor limiting the increase in vegetable prices on store shelves is the factor of further supply growth. Which is impossible without production growth, "said Sitnikov.

At the same time, it is worth remembering that it is greenhouse farms that will suffer the most tangible damage due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Russia and will not be superfluous to provide them with additional state support. So, according to Sitnikov, in order for the prices of greenhouse products for the next 3-4 years to remain fixed, the following measures must be taken:

• Introduce a subsidy on RUB sold by enterprises of the production industry, which is not related to production indicators;

• fix the electricity tariff for greenhouse complexes using the illumination technology at 1.5 rubles. per kWh and compensate for part of the electricity costs for greenhouses in the winter.
