At the Prodexpo 2021 exhibition in Moscow, Maxim Protasov (head of Roskachestvo) spoke about new trends in food consumption among Russians after the Covid-19 pandemic.

The pandemic period has significantly affected the usual way of life of people around the world, and Russia is no exception here, people especially in large cities have radically changed their habits in terms of food purchases. Will new trends be consolidated? Most likely, yes, because despite the easing of restrictions and vaccination, on-line purchases of products and services for delivering them to the door still remain popular among residents of megacities.

So, the main trends of the post-pandemic period, according to the head of Roskachestvo:

1 trend - request for natural and fresh products.

Russians prefer natural and fresh products. This trend was even before the pandemic, but now it has significantly intensified, as has the general tendency to monitor its state of health. In turn, the state actively supports natural food producers. "In 2020, free certification of organic products was introduced for small and medium-sized businesses, I think that the shelf with organic will expand," Protasov said.

 

2 trend - single channel - both in terms of brands and in terms of trading channels.

"Here we will pay attention to both control, monitoring the quality of online operators, and the digital literacy of the population in working with these channels," the head of Roskachestvo explained.

 

3 trend - trend for conscious consumption.

According to the expert, here people often add to the low price factor a request for product quality - which may seem paradoxical to many - how you can simultaneously want a cheap and high-quality product. But at the same time, the consumer is really not ready to sacrifice quality for the sake of price.

 

4 trend - request for support from the state.

"This trend is observed everywhere. In 2021, we launch a consumer rights protection center based on Roskachestvo, where we will more actively advise citizens in choosing products and answer their questions. It is important for us that a conscious consumer influences the market, "concluded Maxim Protasov.
