As a part of the 23d meeting of the Russian-Chinese subcommittee on trade and economic cooperation Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov and Chinese Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan agreed to create a "roadmap" to bring trade between our countries to $ 200 billion.
In the first half of 2020, Russia's trade with China amounted to $48 billion, a decrease of almost 4 percent compared to 2019 ($50 billion for the same period). This is primarily due to coronavirus restrictions and the general decline in economic activity due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the ministers expressed positive expectations in assessing the dynamics of the return to the previous level of commodity-economic cooperation between Russia and China. The Ministers expressed their intention to contribute to the restoration of the economic development of the two countries and exchanged information on best practices in overcoming
the crisis caused by the pandemic. During the meeting, the participants reaffirmed their attitude to continue work on ensuring mutual access of agricultural products to the markets of the two countries, the implementation of a number of initiatives to increase soybean exports from Russia to China.
Despite the pandemic, Chinese companies made every effort to ensure the supply of goods for the food industry under previously concluded agreements with Russian partners.
