AVELTSOV: FOOD PRICES WILL RISE BY 10% BY THE NEW YEAR, BUT THEN THEY WILL FALL AGAIN

An expert assessment of price increases in December 2020 was given by the head of the Center for Agroanalytics of the Ministry of Agriculture Dmitry Aveltsov: "As a rule, by the end of December, prices for vegetables, fruits, meat products, fish, eggs, cheese, butter, wines, soft drinks and other traditional products for the New Year's table can grow to an average of 10%. Then demand falls, and prices return to their previous levels. This situation is observed every year and this will not be an exception. "

Dmitry Aveltsov believes that, despite the severe economic shocks of 2020, food prices will remain within the framework of seasonal trends. And it is possible that some categories of food products will become cheaper. "We can also expect that the measures taken by the Ministry of Agriculture to regulate markets will stabilize and reduce sunflower and wheat prices, which will affect the retail segment on their processing products," the expert concluded.
